How is shielding handled when this variant has no EMI tabs?

Through the chassis and the board ground, not through the connector shell. Since there are no spring fingers on the housing, the panel opening itself must make contact with a grounded frame, and the shield layer of the PCB should be stitched to that frame near the port. We suggest a conductive gasket around the cutout and a continuity check below 0.1 ohm from the panel to ground. Without those, the port becomes the easiest exit path for radiated noise.

Does a top entry jack change the panel cutout or only the board layout?

Both. The opening moves from the front face to the upper face of the enclosure, so the mechanical drawing has to be reissued rather than reused. On the board, the 180 degree orientation puts the magnetics directly under the port instead of behind it, which shortens the pairs but leaves less room for a tall component beside the housing. Check the 16.70mm height against the lid before you commit, and confirm the cable enters from the direction the drawing assumes.
