01.What is the difference between 10G CWDM and DWDM SFP+?
CWDM uses wider channel spacing (typically ~20 nm across the 1270–1610 nm O-/C-/L-band set) and suits shorter metro or campus mux links. DWDM uses dense ITU 100 GHz (or tighter) grid channels for higher wavelength counts over amplified long-haul/metro SMF. Always order the exact nm / ITU channel your mux and link budget require.
02.How do I choose wavelength and reach?
Pick the channel that matches your CWDM/DWDM mux port, then the rated reach (e.g. 10 km, 20 km, 40 km, 80 km) for your fiber loss and any amplification. Confirm duplex LC SMF, DOM support, and commercial vs industrial temperature on the PDP—colored optics are not interchangeable with grey SR/LR parts.
03.Can I drop a CWDM/DWDM SFP+ into a normal 10G grey port?
Electrically yes on many SFP+ cages, but the optical plant must accept that wavelength. Without the matching mux/demux (or a peer colored optic), the link will not behave like a grey 1310/1550 LR/ER.
