We installed these CWDM modules as part of a phased data-center edge refresh. The sites do not need 10G on every route, but they do require resilient, monitored 1G connectivity across long single-mode fiber runs. The 1490nm CWDM channel allowed us to retain existing MUX/DEMUX hardware while adding capacity without trenching new fiber. From an operations standpoint, DOM is the biggest benefit. We set monitoring thresholds around receive optical power and watched the results through our normal device-management workflow. During burn-in and traffic testing, the optics remained stable and there were no link flaps. The compact SFP form factor also made replacement simple in populated switch racks.
