A: One part number is fine, but the 20km link will need a pad. At 20km the loss is typically only 6 to 7dB, which puts the receiver close to its overload point of about -1dBm. Fit a 10dB attenuator there and keep the 66km run as it is. Measure both ends after installation and keep receive power between -8 and -18dBm. By admin
Q: Do you offer an industrial temperature version for outdoor cabinets on the same link? By O***e
A: Yes, the same optical design is available in a -40 to 85C industrial variant, which is the right choice for unventilated outdoor cabinets. For cabinets that stay under about 60C internally, the commercial 0 to 70C part here is normally sufficient. Tell us the cabinet conditions when ordering and we will confirm the correct model. Q: Can these carry IP CCTV traffic at 1G over 60km without frame loss? By M***e
A: Yes. The link is transparent to Ethernet frames, including jumbo frames, so video traffic behaves the same as any other 1G stream. At 60km with typical splice loss the receive level usually lands around -18 to -20dBm, well inside the -26dBm sensitivity. We recommend enabling storm control on the camera VLAN rather than relying on the optic for traffic shaping. By admin
Q: We already run 1490nm on our CWDM shelf. Can we add 1510nm without replacing the mux? By C***n
A: Yes, provided the mux has a 1510 port on the standard 20nm CWDM grid. 1490 and 1510 are adjacent channels, so isolation matters, use a mux with good adjacent channel isolation and keep the connector end faces clean. If your shelf is a combined 1490/1510 wideband port, you will need to move to a channelized mux. By admin
Q: What is the practical difference between this 1510nm version and the 1550nm 80km module for a 50km link? By J***r
A: Optically they are very close, both are DFB based with -26dBm sensitivity and 80km reach. The difference is channel planning. Pick whichever CWDM channel is free on your mux, and if both are free, 1550 is more common and easier to source spares for. For a 50km span either one leaves plenty of margin. By admin
