Designed to maximize existing fiber capacity, the HPE SFP20K-CW1450 Compatible LINK-PP leverages 1450nm CWDM technology to deliver reliable 1G data transmission over single-mode fiber. Supporting distances up to 20km via duplex LC connectors, it integrates digital optical monitoring (DOM) to provide efficient, cost-effective bandwidth expansion for enterprise and carrier access networks.
The transceiver features a hot-pluggable SFP footprint that allows seamless installation without shutting down active network devices. Its strict compliance with SFP MSA standards guarantees universal interoperability with a wide range of industry-standard networking hardware.
Delivering a dedicated 1 Gbps data rate, this module provides reliable gigabit throughput for bandwidth-intensive edge routing. It enables operators to maintain stable, low-latency communication across enterprise campus backbones and local service access networks.
Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) allows multiple distinct optical signals to share a single fiber pair without mutual interference. This technology drastically reduces dark fiber leasing costs by maximizing existing cable capacity.
The standardized 1450nm center wavelength enables precise channel routing within ITU-T G.694.2 CWDM grid topologies. Operating on this specific band prevents signal crosstalk when multiplexing several data channels onto one physical strand.
Integrated DFB and PIN components drive reliable long-reach optical signals up to 20km over single-mode fiber. Such extended reach easily bridges regional aggregation switches and physically distant central offices.
An industry-standard duplex LC optical connector ensures precise mechanical locking and low insertion loss during cable insertion. This compact interface format enables high port density on switches and patch panels.
Real-time digital optical monitoring (DOM) tracks critical operating parameters including Rx/Tx optical power, transceiver temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage. Fully compatible with SFF-8472 digital diagnostics specifications, it gives system administrators early visibility into potential link failures.
The HPE SFP20K-CW1450 Compatible LINK-PP CWDM SFP module meets rigorous ISO 9001, CE, RoHS, and FCC certifications, ensuring excellent build quality, reliable electromagnetic compatibility, and full adherence to global environmental standards.

Q: If my CWDM Mux/Demux filter introduces 2 to 3 dB of insertion loss, will this module still cover a 15km to 18km span? By P***n on 2026-03-25
A: Yes, in most cases it handles that comfortably. This module provides an optical power budget of roughly 19 dB (launching between -5 and 0 dBm, with a -24 dBm receiver sensitivity). Typical single-mode fiber loses about 0.35 to 0.4 dB per kilometer around 1450nm, so an 18km fiber run consumes around 7 dB. Adding 3 to 6 dB of total multiplexer and patch loss still leaves you with around 6 dB of healthy operating margin. By admin on 2026-03-26
Q: Is the 1450nm channel affected by fiber attenuation, and can I use it with any standard single-mode patch cord? By P***r on 2025-12-05
A: You can use any standard duplex LC single-mode fiber (OS2). However, 1450nm sits near the "water peak" region of optical glass. If your network runs on modern low-water-peak single-mode fiber (ITU-T G.652.D), attenuation is low and 20km is easily reachable. If you are patching into a very old legacy fiber plant, attenuation at 1450nm can be slightly higher than at 1550nm, so it is always smart to check your total link loss with the built-in DOM before commissioning. Q: Why does this module use a DFB laser instead of a FP laser, and how does that help with my 20km CWDM link? By J***r on 2025-04-03
A: The DFB laser produces a much narrower, single-frequency light beam compared to a standard FP laser. In a CWDM network where multiple channels are packed closely together, the narrow spectral width of a DFB laser prevents the 1450nm light from drifting or bleeding into adjacent channels. It also reduces chromatic dispersion over the 20km single-mode run, ensuring your 1.25Gbps signal stays crisp and error-free over long distances. By admin on 2025-04-04
